About the Antique Senneh Tradition

Senneh is the historic name for the city of Sanandaj, capital of Kurdistan province in western Iran. Senneh weavers have produced some of the most finely-knotted Persian rugs ever made for over three centuries — their hallmark being the all-over Herati pattern (a small diamond with two leaves and four flowers, repeated in a regular grid) rendered in extraordinarily-precise drawing on a cool palette of indigo, ivory, and rust.
