About the Antique Sarouk Tradition
Sarouk is a small village near Arak in west-central Iran's Markazi province. While Sarouk weavers had produced traditional Persian rugs for centuries, the early 20th century saw the rise of "American Sarouk" — rugs woven specifically for the booming American market, with floral all-over fields and refined drawing perfectly suited to the warm-traditional homes of the 1920s and 1930s. Antique Sarouks became a fixture of American interiors for generations and remain among the most-recognized and most-collected Persian rug types in the United States today. It’s exactly what they say it is. The edges are better than I was expecting in this price range. I hope it holds up as I’m am happy with the way it looks.
This rug had excellent non-slip. The only issue is that it got pretty dirty in front of the sink in a short amount of time. Likely because of my color choice. But we eventually had to toss it because we just couldn't get it clean and it wasn't worth it to spend any more time trying to clean it.
